A SET FOR A SHOW OFF

The image is a link to BANDCAMP where the album can be heard

The information below was also used on a small number of CDs

HOW IT BEGAN

It began with a conversation. This was followed by some words. And  out of the words came an idea.

It ends with a click from a much loved Revox B77 Reel to Reel tape deck on which most of the songs in this selection were originally recorded.

It is supposed to be something other than an album of songs.

It was perhaps an idea which should have been ignored. Perhaps it was no more than an excuse to reissue a set of previously heard songs.

But once it had begun to take shape I just followed on until it had been completed. It is what it became.

There are thirteen songs. They all belong to a phase in my song writing career when I did perform.

WHAT IT BECAME

There is a spoken word introduction which uses the words below

A set of the songs I’d choose if I were ever to perform

In a small and low lit venue nowhere near where I was born

With an audience of strangers who know nothing of my songs

And for sure would have no interest in trying to sing along

The songs were not re-recorded. They were remastered for 'THE PERFORMANCE’
